About Aurbis Development
Aurbis Development was founded in 2001 by Sam Sprague to pursue retail and mixed-use developments with an emphasis on projects that incorporate progressive approaches to planning and design. Prior to forming Aurbis he was a Research and Development associate with Broadmoor Enterprises and Jaren Development Corporation; Development Director and then Partner with Park West Development in Phoenix, Arizona; Senior Leasing Executive with The Mills Corporation based in Arlington, Virginia; and then Senior Vice President of Real Estate for The Pederson Group in Phoenix.
Mr. Sprague received a BA from Northern Arizona University in 1984 and subsequently pursued post graduate work at Arizona State University from 1986 to 1987. He left his dual MBA/Economics program prior to graduation in order to join Park West Development in 1987. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Arizona and a member of ICSC.
Prior to forming Aurbis Development, Mr. Sprague had 16 years of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate development and investments with an emphasis on shopping center development. Some of his project experience prior to forming Aurbis Development includes the following:
Scottsdale Promenade (Scottsdale, AZ – The Pederson Group) 898,575 square foot community and lifestyle center.
The Mills Operating Centers (Various U.S. Cities) Served as senior leasing executive handling national accounts for the operating projects within the Mills portfolio.
Arizona Mills (Tempe, AZ – The Mills Corporation) Served as one of three leasing executives on this 1,480,000 square foot value oriented mega-mall.
Wigwam Outlet Stores (Goodyear, AZ – Park West Development) Development Director, 242,875 square foot factory outlet project, a joint-venture between Park West Development and SunCor Development.
Pan American Plaza (Douglas AZ – Park West Development) Development Director, 262,000 square foot community center. Anchors include Wal-Mart (114,000sf), Safeway (55,000sf), and JC Penney.
Grand Court Plaza (Nogales, AZ – Park West Development) Development Director, 165,490 square foot center anchored by Bashas’ (46,000sf), Pep Boys (22,266sf), Peter Piper Pizza (10,000sf), Corral West Ranchwear (12,000sf), and 76,434sf of shop space.
Park Sedona Plaza (Sedona, AZ – Park West Development) Development Director, 109,257sf center with Safeway (42,080sf) and PayLess Drug Store (31,472sf) anchoring 24,785sf of shops.
Riverview Mall (Bullhead City, AZ – Park West Development) Project Manager, 276,625 square foot community center including 45,000sf of shops anchored by Wal-Mart (91,000sf, expanded to 135,000sf), Albertson’s (44,237sf), PayLess Drug Store (31,427sf), JC Penney (22,654sf), Corral West Ranchwear (12,000sf), and Miller’s Outpost (8,000sf).
Park Pineway Plaza (Show Low, AZ – Park West Development) Project Manager, 240,025 square foot community center anchored by Wal-Mart (65,930sf, later expanded to 96,000+sf), Bashas’ (47,797sf), JC Penney (25,500sf), JJ Newberry (14,400sf) and Corral West Ranchwear (10,000sf).
